Nursing Team

Angela is a Respiratory Nurse Specialist with considerable experience in acute and chronic respiratory management. Angela worked as a Hospital Respiratory Nurse specialist with special interest in difficult to treat asthma and interstitial lung disease, and more recently leading the countywide home oxygen service for the past 5 years.
Angela is an autonomous practitioner employed across general practice, the community, acute Hospital settings, and higher education. Professional qualifications include RGN, BSc (Hons) in Respiratory management and non-medical prescribing.
Angela embraces patient education, the enhancement of patient self-management and the management of care. Importantly involving their carers and loved ones. Working collaboratively across health and social care. A member of the Association of Respiratory Nurses (ARN’s) and a supporter for the British Lung Foundation, Pulmonary Fibrosis society and local respiratory support groups.

I joined the G DOC Nursing Team 18 months ago after a very happy 25 years as a lead Practice Nurse. As a non-medical prescriber with qualifications in Triage, Minor Illness, Asthma, Specialist Practice Nursing and Sexual Health as well as substantial experience in travel health, diabetes and primary care. I felt well placed for the support which G DOC offers to practices. More recently, G DOC has enabled me to gain qualifications in COPD and ARTP spirometry. Using all these skills, I enjoy a variety of placements in different surgeries. It has been heartening to witness high standards of nursing care and I have found that being a G DOC nurse is an excellent way of sharing good practice.

I joined the GDOC nursing team in July 2021 and have enjoyed increasing my skills, confidence and experiencing different ways of working within primary care.
Having worked as a HCA for 10 years; as a community HCA and a HCA within a GP surgery, I went to UWE and qualified in 2020 and have since worked part time as a practice nurse at a local surgery.
Outside of work I have two children, dogs and horses which keep me busy!

My nursing career has been mainly within primary healthcare in GP surgeries, prisons, humanitarian work abroad and elderly care. I have previously had several areas of speciality in general practice but now dedicate my clinics to respiratory care only. Working with G DOC has enabled me to refine my skills and knowledge in this area further.

Over the last 2 years I have worked with 23 surgeries in Gloucestershire either providing respiratory clinics or mentoring and teaching in asthma, COPD and spirometry. It is an excellent forum for sharing knowledge and good practice as well as improving and standardising the level of care offered around the county. As with most areas in medicine, respiratory care is constantly changing and one of my goals in this role is remain up to date with current research and evidence based practice and to share this information with other clinicians around the county.
